Slow Flow

at St Mary's, Woolton

About This Class

Mondays | 6.30-7.30pm | Please bring a yoga mat. “Slowness is a cultural revolution against the notion that faster is always better. It’s about seeking to do everything at the right speed. Savoring the hours and minutes rather than just counting them.” Carl Honore Join me for a mindful, nurturing practice combining movement, meditation and breathwork to calm and balance your mind and body and open your heart. Suitable for beginners and experienced yogis, Slow Flow yoga is a calm and restful practice incorporating both Vinyasa (where movements and postures flow from one to another) and Hatha (a slower practice designed to align and calm your body, mind, and spirit). Combining steady transitions and slow, nourishing breaths this class will (amongst many benefits) soothe your nervous system, reduce stress, promote inner calm and self-compassion, increase resilience, improve digestion and reduce anxiety and depression. Each class will close with a short poem or reading, a journal prompt to take away, and the optional application of an essential oil blend for those who wish to benefit. Please bring a yoga mat and feel free to bring a blanket, cushion, eye mask or warm layers for your own comfort. A Heart-Centred Practice When our hearts, minds and bodies are working in harmony, we’re in a deep state of flow, our internal systems are working together towards optimal health and we feel a strong connection to ourselves and others. The heart is where we tap into our empathy, compassion, intuition, creativity, resilience and integrity. These classes will give you the space to connect with your heart and shift to a place of love. Slow Flow vs Yin A Yin practice traditionally holds postures in stillness for 3-5 minutes (or more) to target our deep connective tissues. Whilst we may hold a small number of yin postures towards the end of class, Slow Flow postures are held long enough to enjoy a few nourishing rounds of breath with gentle movement encouraged as you settle into each posture. - Classes take place at St Mary's Church Hall, Woolton, Liverpool L25 5JF. - Turn off Church Rd down the drive towards St Mary's Church (not to be confused with St Peter's which is next door). A private car park is available further down the drive and the Hall is opposite the church front entrance. - Limited spaces available - please book in advance to secure your place in class. - Please bring a yoga mat.
